The standard dose is 5mL per 50 gallons. Since the 4L bottle contains 4,000mL, it can treat up to approximately 40,000 gallons at the standard dose.

Can I use Prime in shrimp tanks?

Yes. Prime is commonly used in freshwater shrimp tanks when dosed as directed.

Does Prime remove chloramine?

Yes. Prime removes chlorine and chloramine from tap water.

Does Prime detoxify ammonia?

Yes. Prime detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, allowing the aquarium’s biological filter to process them more safely.

Can I overdose Seachem Prime?

Prime should be measured carefully. Seachem states that a double dose may be used for high chloramine, and up to 5 times the normal dose may be used in an emergency to detoxify nitrite.

Why does Prime smell like sulfur?

A sulfur odor is normal for Seachem Prime and does not mean the product is expired or bad.

Does Prime replace beneficial bacteria?

No. Prime conditions water and detoxifies certain compounds, but it does not replace beneficial bacteria. For bacterial support, use a product such as Seachem Stability.

Should I dose Prime for the whole tank or just new water?

When treating replacement water, dose based on the new water volume. If adding Prime directly to the aquarium, base the dose on the full aquarium volume.
