FAQ

  • Why do we ship overnight?

Shipping aquarium fish overnight ensures they arrive as quickly as possible to minimize stress and maintain their health. Here are a few reasons why overnight shipping is the preferred method:

Minimized Stress: Aquarium fish are sensitive to environmental changes, and long periods in transit can increase stress, leading to health issues or even death. Overnight shipping reduces the time they spend in transit, helping to lower the risk of stress.

Temperature Control: Fish need to be kept at specific temperatures, and shipping them quickly allows better control over temperature fluctuations. Extended shipping could expose them to temperature extremes that could harm them.

Reduced Risk of Illness: Longer shipping times increase the chances of fish becoming sick due to stress, poor water quality, or lack of oxygen. A shorter shipping window reduces these risks.

Freshness: Just like perishable goods, live fish are better off being delivered as soon as possible. Overnight shipping ensures that the fish are fresh and arrive in the best condition possible.

Customer Satisfaction: For aquarium hobbyists and pet owners, the condition of the fish upon arrival is crucial. Overnight shipping ensures that the fish arrive in good health, which leads to higher satisfaction and return customers.

Overall, the goal is to deliver the fish as quickly as possible to ensure they stay healthy and vibrant, providing a positive experience for both the seller and the buyer.

  • How are orders shipped?

The fish are placed in breather bags containing a light dose of stress-reducing medication and a small piece of filter to absorb waste. They are then double bagged to ensure if the first bag leaks, it will obtain the water. The bags are placed in an insulated box size comfortable enough to house the entire order, insulation to help keep the temperature regulated, and if the weather permits a heat pack.

  • When will you ship my order?

We ship orders every Monday. The banner at the top of our website will display the specific date your order will ship. Once you place an order, be ready for your fish to ship on the scheduled date.  In the event of unsafe weather conditions, we reserve the right to delay shipping to ensure the quality and safety of your order.

If you have paid for Next day Air, we can arrange a different day to mail that will exclude a weekend day.  Please contact us if you need us to hold an order for any reason.

You will receive a tracking #, please use that to track your estimated date of delivery. UPS.com can assist in tracking your package.

  • How do I acclimate my new fish? (Our pH runs around 7.0).  Our recommendations are below:

Gather a container big enough to obtain their new home tank water (the same amount approx. to the water in the bag).

Cut open the double bags carefully and pour the fish and water into the container and let acclimate for 20 minutes.

Place a net over a container that can hold the amount of water you gathered. Pour the fish into the net and place them into your tank.  This will ensure none of the shipped bag water doesn’t enter your tank.

** Please note, this is only a recommendation. If you have your own acclimating process that works, please continue.

  • Which mail service providers do you use?

Due to a customer’s address, we offer different options to choose from: UPS or USPS.

Note – UPS does not deliver to PO Boxes, make sure to enter a physical address for delivery. If you need to place a hold on your UPS package you can call with your tracking number and request that they hold the package at one of their pick-up locations.

When does my Next Day or 2nd Day Air package arrive?

Delivery times do not account for catching and handling of the fish. "Next Day Air & 2nd Day Air" refers to the time between leaving our city and arriving at your address.

  • Where can I purchase fish?

Fish may be ordered directly from our website. We organized our stock into categories. When viewing a fish, there may be variants, such Pack of or Pair, sex, and quantity.

Most of our fish are juvenile or unsexed unless others stated.

Quantity is 1 fish unless otherwise noted (Pair or Pack of) then select the quantity of that option. (i.e. Pack of 3 and quantity 2) will give you 6 fish overall.

  • Why does my fish not look like what’s listed on the website?

Fish change appearance during shipping due to stress. Fish will naturally lose color during shipping and may appear faded upon arrival. Our pictures are taken in their current live setting as an example.

  • Can you sex my fish?

Most of our fish are juvenile and listed as unsexed. You can request certain sexes in the "NOTES" section at checkout, or via email after ordering. We will ATTEMPT to fulfill your requests the best we can. If the attempt cannot be made, we will send you the item that you purchased.

  • Can you hold my order?

No, due to other orders, we ask that you have your tank up, cycled, and ready for your purchased fish to have a ready stable home.

  • Can you cancel my order?

Yes, only if you have not placed your order within 24 hours of the shipping day (Monday).
