The Jade Mystery Snail (Pomacea diffusa) is another beautiful species of freshwater snail that is similar to the Black Mystery Snail but has a striking jade-green or light green shell. These snails are popular among aquarium hobbyists because of their color and their ability to help clean tanks by eating algae and detritus .

Here are some key facts about the Jade Mystery Snail:

  1. Appearance: The Jade Mystery Snail has a smooth, glossy shell that is typically a translucent green, sometimes with darker green patterns. Their soft body is usually a light brown or beige.

  2. Size: They can grow to around 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, similar to the Black Mystery Snail.

  3. Habitat: Like other Mystery Snails, the Jade Mystery Snail prefers a freshwater environment with a temperature range of 70°F to 80°F (21°C to 27°C). They can live in well-maintained aquariums, ponds, and lakes.

  4. Diet: These snails are herbivores and will feed on algae, decaying plant matter, and detritus in the aquarium. They can also be given blanched vegetables like zucchini, spinach, and lettuce.

  5. Reproduction: Jade Mystery Snails lay their eggs above the waterline in clusters, just like the Black Mystery Snail. The eggs may be pink, orange, or white in color. In a tank, these snails can reproduce if both males and females are present.

  6. Behavior: They are peaceful and non-aggressive, making them great additions to community aquariums. They won’t harm plants or other tank mates and are excellent at helping maintain a clean tank environment.

Snails may hibernate 3-5 days after arriving during shipping.
