Tank Setup
GloFish® Pearl Gouramis do best in a peaceful aquarium with stable water quality, gentle water movement, and plenty of plants or décor. They appreciate areas near the surface where they can breathe, explore, and rest. Floating plants, tall plants, driftwood, and calm open areas help them feel secure.
Because gouramis breathe air from the surface, always leave open access to the top of the aquarium. A secure lid is also recommended to help prevent jumping and keep warm, humid air above the water surface.
Diet & Feeding
GloFish® Pearl Gouramis are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet of high-quality prepared foods along with occasional frozen or live foods. A balanced diet helps support healthy growth, color, and activity.
- High-quality tropical flakes
- Small floating pellets
- GloFish® color-enhancing foods
- Freeze-dried or frozen bloodworms
- Brine shrimp
- Daphnia
Feed only what they can eat within a few minutes and avoid overfeeding to help keep the aquarium clean.
Tank Mates
The GloFish® Pearl Gourami Starfire Red is best kept with peaceful community fish. Avoid aggressive fin nippers or overly boisterous fish that may stress them.
- Tetras
- Rasboras
- Corydoras catfish
- Peaceful rainbowfish
- Danios
- Small peaceful loaches
- Other peaceful community fish
Use caution when keeping multiple gouramis together, especially males, as they may become territorial in smaller aquariums.
Lighting & Color
The Starfire Red coloration looks especially vibrant under blue LED lighting or GloFish® aquarium lights. They can also be kept under standard aquarium lighting, but specialty lighting helps bring out their fluorescent glow.
