Do I need Controsoil for a planted tank? If you're growing demanding, root-feeding plants or a lush carpet, an active substrate like UNS Controsoil gives you the healthiest growth and easiest results. For low-tech setups or hardy plants, a quality gravel like Controsand can be enough.
Are UNS rimless tanks good for beginners? Yes. Their forgiving proportions and crystal-clear glass make them very beginner-friendly, while the build quality keeps experienced aquascapers happy too. The UNS 45U and 60U are popular first-build sizes.
