Fritz MetroCleanse 20 Pack – Metronidazole Fish Treatment
Fritz MetroCleanse contains metronidazole and is intended for susceptible protozoan and certain bacterial infections in ornamental freshwater and saltwater fish, including Hexamita-related conditions. Symptoms alone do not confirm a specific infection; identify the likely cause before treating.
What is included
20 packets, each containing 200 mg metronidazole. Manufacturer item number: 90008. At the standard water-treatment dose, the package provides 400 gallons of dosing capacity for a single application.
Manufacturer directions
Water-column dosing: Remove all invertebrates before treatment. Add 1 packet per 20 US gallons every 48 hours until symptoms disappear, up to 10 treatments.
Medicated food: Mix 1 packet per tablespoon of regular food; feed daily until symptoms disappear, for up to 3 weeks. Refrigerate or freeze leftover food. Follow Fritz's directions.
For water treatment, remove chemical filtration and turn off UV; keep water flowing and well aerated. In marine aquariums, turn off the protein skimmer.
Important safety information
A separate hospital tank is recommended. Although medicated food may be used in systems containing invertebrates, do not broadcast-dose MetroCleanse into an aquarium containing invertebrates. Fritz's published instructions caution that active ingredients may negatively affect beneficial nitrifying bacteria; test ammonia and nitrite throughout treatment. Follow the instructions on your actual package.
