Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter QuikCycl – 125mL
Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter QuikCycl – 125mL
Brightwell MicroBacter QuikCycl is a professional-grade ammonia nutrient source designed for fishless aquarium cycling. It provides the ammonia source needed to feed nitrifying bacteria as they establish biological filtration in a new freshwater or marine aquarium.
When used with a quality live bacterial culture, such as Brightwell MicroBacter Start XLF for freshwater or MicroBacter Start XLM for marine aquariums, QuikCycl helps build a strong nitrifying bacteria bed before fish or other livestock are added.
Key Features

Directions
Read all directions before use. This product contains ammonia and should be used for fishless cycling only. Do not use in aquariums containing fish, shrimp, snails, corals, or other livestock.
- Basic Dose: Add 4 drops per gallon, or 1mL per 5 gallons of aquarium water.
- Target Ammonia: After dosing, ammonia should measure approximately 1–2 ppm total ammonia.
- Testing: Test ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH regularly during the cycling process.
- Use With Bacteria: Pair with a live beneficial bacteria culture to establish the nitrogen cycle.
- Important: Do not continue adding more QuikCycl just because ammonia starts dropping. That means bacteria are beginning to consume it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Brightwell MicroBacter QuikCycl do?
MicroBacter QuikCycl provides an ammonia source to feed nitrifying bacteria during fishless aquarium cycling.
Can I use QuikCycl with fish in the tank?
No. QuikCycl contains ammonia and is intended for fishless cycling only. Do not use it in aquariums with fish, shrimp, snails, corals, or other livestock.
Do I still need beneficial bacteria?
Yes. QuikCycl provides food for nitrifying bacteria, but it should be used with a quality bacterial culture to establish biological filtration.
Can I use QuikCycl in freshwater aquariums?
Yes. QuikCycl can be used in freshwater and marine aquariums when fishless cycling a new setup.
How much QuikCycl should I dose?
The standard starting dose is 4 drops per gallon, or 1mL per 5 gallons, to reach approximately 1–2 ppm total ammonia.
What should I test while cycling?
Test ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH during the cycling process. The aquarium is not ready for livestock until ammonia and nitrite are consistently reading zero after processing the ammonia source.
Can I use carbon or phosphate remover while cycling?
Brightwell recommends not using carbon, GFO, or other phosphate removers during cycling, as they may slow the process.
When is my aquarium ready for fish?
The aquarium is generally ready when ammonia and nitrite test at zero and nitrate is present, but always confirm with reliable test kits before adding livestock.
Important Note
Caution: Contains ammonia. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. This product is for ornamental aquarium use only and should only be used for fishless cycling. Always follow label directions and test water regularly.
