Aquarium Co-Op Small Fine Sponge Filter — black
Air-driven reusable sponge filtration for freshwater aquariums, providing mechanical filtration and a surface for beneficial bacteria. The fine-pore black sponge helps capture finer particles and may require more frequent rinsing.
Manufacturer's general starting tank recommendation: 10 gallons and up; choose based on aquarium dimensions, stocking, feeding and filtration needs. A single filter is not guaranteed sufficient for every tank in that range.
What's included?
Current Aquarium Co-Op sponge-filter models include the Easy Flow uplift tube assembly. Confirm packaging if the store carries an older version. Air pump and airline tubing are required and sold separately. A properly installed airline check valve is recommended to reduce back-siphoning, especially if the pump is below the aquarium waterline. This product is not a self-powered filter or a complete powered kit.
Care
Match the pump's airflow to the filter and livestock. Rinse the sponge gently in removed aquarium water or dechlorinated water when debris builds up or flow slows. Preserve established beneficial bacteria by not replacing all biological media at once.
