What is included and what else is needed?

This is a sponge-filter unit, not a complete powered filtration kit. Current Aquarium Co-Op Easy Flow sponge filters include the Easy Flow uplift assembly; confirm the actual box contents if stock is an earlier version. A separate aquarium air pump and airline tubing are needed to operate this filter; they are not included. A correctly oriented check valve is recommended, especially if the air pump is below the waterline. Choose an air pump capable of delivering sufficient flow against the tank's water depth; no universal air-pump wattage or flow rate is promised.

Care and setup

Connect the air pump with airline tubing and place the filter in the aquarium. Adjust airflow for the livestock. Gently squeeze and rinse the sponge in removed aquarium water or dechlorinated water as debris accumulates or water flow decreases. Clean without replacing all established biological media at once. Fine foam captures smaller particles and may clog sooner; coarse foam generally offers better resistance to clogging.
