🌱 Pearl Weed (Hemianthus micranthemoides) Care Guide

Appearance

• Small, bright green leaves with a fine, delicate texture.
• Can grow compact and bushy with trimming, or tall and grassy if left alone.

Tank Requirements

• Lighting: Moderate to high (brings out compact growth).
• CO₂: Not required but strongly encouraged for lush, dense carpets.
• Temperature: 68–82°F (20–28°C).
• pH: 6.0–7.5.
• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water.

Growth & Placement

• Foreground / Midground: With regular trimming it makes a beautiful carpet.
• Background: If left to grow tall, it works as a soft, grassy background plant.
• Can be tied to driftwood/rocks or planted in substrate.

Care Tips

• Frequent trimming encourages bushy, compact growth.
• Great for aquascaping—used in both Iwagumi and Dutch-style tanks.
• Provides excellent hiding spaces for shrimp and fry.
