The Julii Cory Catfish (Corydoras julii) is another popular species in the aquarium hobby, known for its distinctive markings and peaceful temperament. Here are some key details about them:

  • Size at shipping: .5-1 Inch
  • Sold as: Unsexed
  • Tank bred and raised (from our aquarium to your aquarium)
  • Food: Variety of bottom feeder wafers
  • Appearance: Julii Corydoras have a light tan or silver-colored body with bold, dark spots or stripes that form a pattern resembling a "zebra" or "leopard" print. Their faces and bodies often have intricate dark markings, making them quite striking. They also have barbels on their upper and lower jaws, typical of Corydoras species.

  • Size: Julii Corys are small catfish, growing to about 2.5 to 3 inches (6-7 cm) in length.

  • Behavior: Like most Corydoras species, Julii Corys are peaceful, social fish that prefer to live in groups of at least 4 to 6 individuals. They are bottom-dwellers, frequently scavenging the substrate for food. They are also very active and fun to watch, often darting around and interacting with other fish in a community tank.

  • Water Conditions: Julii Corys thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0 to 7.5) with a temperature range of 72–78°F (22–26°C). They prefer soft to moderately hard water conditions and a well-filtered tank to maintain good water quality.

  • Diet: They are omnivorous and will eat a wide variety of foods, including sinking pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. It's best to offer them high-quality sinking pellets or tablets to ensure they get food while foraging on the bottom.

  • Tank Setup: Julii Corys prefer tanks with soft, fine substrate (like sand or smooth gravel) to protect their sensitive barbels and avoid injury. A well-planted tank with hiding spots and gentle filtration is ideal. They also do well in community tanks with peaceful tankmates.

  • Lifespan: Julii Corys can live for 5 to 10 years with proper care.

  • Misidentification: The Julii Cory is sometimes confused with the Corydoras trilineatus, which is another species with similar markings. However, the Julii Cory has more distinctive patterns, with dots rather than straight lines along its sides.

Fish may not be identical to the pictures you see online when receiving. Most are photos of the parents and to show what they will grow up like to resemble.
